A prominent radio presenter with Unity FM Amb. Bello Lukman has condemned the violent-like celebration of president Buhari’s return in Jos. He made the condemnation in a post on his official facebook page and it reads ”Much as I welcome President Buhari back to the country after his 51 days medical vacation, much as I enjoin all and sundry to express their joy in a fun like manner, I want to condemn in totality the harassment, intimidation and humiliation of innocent road users yesterday by the youths in the name of celebration. Some people had their windscreens shattered yesterday for no just reason.
Celebration is a thing of fun, when celebrating, spoons, plates, music and other items are always on display, but when we start bringing out sticks, knives, cudgels, machetes and other things, then we might infringe on other people ‘s rights as it happened yesterday. To avoid a repeat of this, the community leaders, opinion leaders as well as the vigilante groups should please wade into the matter.
Don’t forget that we are still enjoying relative peace in the state, we should therefore avoid any action that might jeopardize the peace…Welcome back PMB.”
