The Plateau State Government has made a threat that it will stop road projects in communities that disrupt construction work on the ground that compensation must be given to them.

While on inspection tour of projects in the state, Governor Jonah Jang was informed by representatives of a construction company in Jos South Local Government Area that a property-owner had stated clearly that the project would not continue until compensation was paid.

The Governor was also told that the property-owner who owns a block industry collected N400,000 on a piece of land where his business was located only to turn around and make another claim on another area which he is insisting payment must be made.

Jang stated that government could not continue to pay for every piece of land it intended to use for road construction. He said that his administration would leave areas that communities chose not to appreciate Government developmental efforts all in the name of collecting compensation. He added that development projects will henceforth be done at areas where people appreciate the efforts of Government.
