The Tim community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau has donated a N10 million police outpost to the state Police Command. The district head of Mangun, Da Job Damiyal presented the keys of the post to the Plateau state police commissioner, Mr Chris Olakpe who was represented by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Jerome Adeniyi.

Damiyal said that Tim Area made up of Mangun, Ampang West, Kerang, Chakfem and Jipal districts have lately being witnessing a lot of security challenge hence the decision to build the police post. He added that the post was “our widow’s might” towards better policing.

“Our desire is that this post will provide the desired security coverage and surveillance for the whole of Tim area. It is targeted at easing the suffering of the many rural dwellers around and providing necessary proximity to instrument of justice. We believe it will help de-congest the Mangu Police Division of cases and problems being faced in policing the local government,” the traditional ruler said.

The interim Administrator of Mangu Local Government, Mr James Dalyop represented by the council’s Director of Personnel Management, Mr George Shalwul applauded the efforts of the community and encouraged them to keep the spirit. He called on the police commissioner to deploy more personnel to the area.

“Embarking on such development project will surely assist the redemption and transformation programmes of Governor Jonah Jang’s administration. As a council, we shall continue to support such development projects and therefore expect others to take a cue from your community for this laudable project,” he said.

The Plateau state police commissioner stated that the gesture was encouraging and commendable. He said the donation will help in complementing the work of the police in the area and that the post will be upgraded to a Divisional Police station with officers deployed to it.
