FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE SQUEAL OF AFRICAN YOUTHS FOR COMPENSATION TO AFRICA ON THE IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE , A HURT BY THE GLOBAL SOUTH .
The leadership of the African Youth Assembly with its continental Secretariat in Lagos State, Nigeria, has through its West African Regional Speaker from Nigeria decided to call the global attention on the aforementioned subject.
We have noticed with prime irksomess the inertia by the countries of the Global South to respond accordingly to the alarming need to compensate the countries of the Global North for the impact of their activities on climate change. The series of engagements from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change should ordinarily have compelling force on the Global South to act speedily in terms of embracing a global respond for climate change. The Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change have on account of its guiding discussions fingered the developed countries for contributing immensely in the release of greenhouse gases with high Global Warming Potentials and highly positive Radiative Forcing thereby posing the thread to global warming. If the average global warming is left to exceed two degree Celsius Africans will be bedevilled by diseases , desertification and drought of immeasurable standard for an act we have zero or unrecognisable contribution. To avert the aforementioned menace , the developed countries must raise up to the occasion and provide us with not only meaningful funding alone but also the technology that will aid Africa protect itself against the heinous impact of climate change.
Perhaps John F. Kerry noticed our reluctance to address the impact of climate change when he said ; ” Climate Change if unchecked, is an urgent thread to health, food supplies, livelihood and biodiversity across the globe. We must act now because the statement of James Hansen is real when he said : “Global warming isn’t a prediction it is happening” . The Assembly is calling on world leaders to collectively speak against the heinous act in practical inhibition of danger .
The African Youth Assembly is the convergence of african youths with the zenith interest of advancing the African project on account of the instrumentality of the legislative gathering of the youths drawn from the forty five (45) constituent countries of the continent.

Rt. Hon. Mathew Greene .
Speaker,
West African Region.
