Christmas was general peaceful in Plateau state as it was celebrated amidst tight security. Worship and public places in Jos had security machinery in place to screen anyone accessing it. Security operatives also patrolled worship centres and were at strategic areas of the state all through the celebration period.

The Special Task Force (STF) had temporary checkpoints on the streets and conducted vehicular searches across the state. The Federal Road Safety Corps on its part deployed its personnel to ensure free flow of traffic. Vehicles were not allowed into churches and recreational areas within the capital.

The STF commander, Major General David Eniette who was on ground to monitor the security situation in the state alongside some newsmen said peace had returned to the state. He called on people of the state to continue in the spirit of showing love to one another so as to consolidate the peace currently enjoyed.

Recreational areas and bars were filled to capacity as people went out to enjoy the holiday and celebrate with loved ones.
