As the political atmosphere gathers momentum ahead of the 2023 general elections, Chief Pedro Ardiyel Dafur had cause on the 21st day of March 2022 to travel down to his hometown; Lankan District in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State, to declare his intention to vie for the seat of the Senator representing the good people of Plateau Central Senatorial zone, at the Upper chamber of the National Assembly, under the platform of the African Largest ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC)

Chief Pedro Dafur welcomes the mammoth crowd to this epoch making event, who have turn out in their numbers to witness the history making event although it was meeting between LANKAN Federal Ward executives of APC and him.

He also appreciated them for their support and for believing in his candidature to vie for the seat of the Senator representing the good people of Plateau Central Senatorial zone at the National Assembly. in the meeting with the wards Executives, he said he deem it fit to come home to inform them of his aspiration officially first before proceeding to other constituents. in his words:

“I hereby declare to contest for the seat of the Senator representing the good people of Plateau Central Senatorial zone, at the National Assembly.”

The Senatorial aspirant admonished the party executives to remain firm and faithful to the party and encourage them not to be intimidated because they belong to the ruling party both at the state and national level.

Responding to his declaration, the Party Chairman of the Lankan Federal Ward, Hon. Ishaya Dokpan, expressed his joy and happiness over the aspiration and prayed God to perfect all that concerned Chief Pedro and his Aspirations.
Other executives who spoke gave useful advice and encouragement to the aspirant.

The event witnessed mammoth crowd outside the venue of the meeting who were anxious to be part of the meeting, surrounded with men and women welcoming and rendering songs of prayers for victory to the ASPIRANT.
