The Technical Adviser of Plateau United, Kennedy Boboye said they have done a good job in winning the Nigerian Professional League, but they will have to re-enforce the team if they want to fulfill their continental target.
Speaking with Newsmen, Boboye said, “We aware of the enormous task ahead of the team as we represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF Champions League.
“We will strengthen the team with quality players is some key departments.
“We are not going to overhaul the team but inject new blood in some specific areas to give it a balance,” he stated
He commended the League Management Company (LMC) as well as some sponsors in ensuring an improvement in the country’s league in different spheres.
Boboye however, appealed to the LMC to seek partnership with airlines to be conveying teams to match venues.
According to him, going by road was tiring and stressful pointing out that such affects negatively the performances of teams.
Mr. Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Adviser Nigerian Breweries, producers of Star Lager Beer, said “Star is all about Nigeria and Nigeria is all about football”, giving reason for the partnership with the NPFL.
He said Star is committed to rebuild the Nigerian League as it has done in the entertainment industry and other social engagement Nigerians are indulge in.
“Following the win, Star lager gave Plateau United fans an opportunity to celebrate with the Plateau United team at the dedicated premium Star fan park which was set up at the Stadium.
“As part of the celebration, the team and its supporters embarked on a trophy tour around town to celebrate their win, which led to the government house where the trophy was presented to the Plateau State Commissioner for Sports, Danladi Mann, who stood in for Governor Simon Lalong”, Ekanem said.
According to him, Star is wholly indigenous and is a big promoter of Nigerian passion in football.
He said that more than the ‘Nigerianess’ of the brand, its attributes are perfect for the league and just as important, the fans of football in Nigeria.
