Information available to us indicates that the Plateau State Governor Rt. Hon. Barr. Simon Lalong on 13th July, 2016 hosted the Plateau Business Community to a “state Banquet” at the Banquet hall of the little Rayfield Government house, Jos.
At the meeting, business opportunities, strategies and investment plans were discussed with various stakeholders both from within and outside the state.
Business leaders, investors, commissioners and civil servants graced the occasion – which was well attended and highlighted the immense business potentials of Plateau state. Notable among the attendees were – Amb Yahaya Kwande, Mr Bulus Dareng, Prof. Sunny Tyoden, Mr Ezekiel Gomos etc.
The event is part of Governor Lalong’s efforts at diversifying the economy of Plateau state from its current dependence on federal government handouts (i.e, subvention), on to other areas of revenue generation.
At the parley, our sources confirmed that Governor Lalong stated to the business community that “Plateau state is open for business” and that the government will put in place business friendly policies which will enable the small start up businesses to thrive.
He cited his visits to China as evidence of his commitment to tap on the immense potential of opportunities in Plateau and called on all investors to get in contact with his government on areas of interest. He enumerated opportunities already compiled by PIPC (the investment limited liability company) of the state.
This rallying call to investors is similar to the efforts of the Lalong administration to re-focus Plateau citizens onto agriculture and already several several policies and projects are being put in place to make that happen.
