News reaching ViewPointNigeria suggests that the supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari in Plateau State have accused the state party leadership of trying to sabotage his visit to the state.

General Buhari (the APC flag bearer) is expected to visit Plateau and Nasarawa states on Saturday, January 17 in continuation of his nationwide campaign tour of the 36 states of the federation.

However, the supporters of the General under the auspices of the Buhari Integrity Group (a subsidiary of Buhari Support Group), Plateau State chapter, yesterday told journalist that the APC in the state has not made adequate arrangements to receive the presidential candidate and stressed that attempts to work with them in the planning had proved abortive.

Chairman and the secretary of the group Jamilu Baba and Mohammed Hassan respectively said the APC and the governorship candidate of the party, Barrister Simon Bako Lalong have also marginalised the people of Jos North in the electioneering campaign despite the local government’s voting strength. They said: “Even the people of Jos South are complaining that there is no local government office.
The PDP candidate has gone all over the place and is comfortable in Jos North because he knows it has the voting power of about five local governments in the state, while the APC candidate will always tell you he is in Abuja; is he looking for governor in Abuja?”

While condemning last week’s attack on President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign buses, the group said the attack was not carried out by Buhari supporters and urged “security operatives to deal with anyone who tries to use Buhari’s coming to cause problems in Plateau State.”

However, when contacted, APC state publicity secretary, Chindo Dafat, described the allegations as false, saying the Rwang Pam Stadium has been booked for the visit and that members of the group were ignorant of how the party was going about its activities.

Dafat further said committees had been set up and had been meeting in the last three days. “We even had a meeting yesterday (Wednesday) and all candidates of the APC from the House of Assembly to governorship as well as other members were present, so if they are Buhari’s supporters as they claimed, then why were they not at the meeting?,” he added
