The Governor of Plateau state, Simon Lalong, on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari was not responsible for the recession of Nigeria’s economy.
Mr. Lalong, who spoke at a ceremony held at the Government House, Jos, for the inauguration of his new aides, expressed confidence that the economy would be fixed.
“President Buhari is not responsible for the present economic challenges we are facing today in Nigeria”, he stated, adding that, “as a responsible government, we will fix the situation”.
“We in Plateau state, we have to ensure that we revive our agriculture and mining sectors. We do not have money to give out to politicians but we will provide opportunities for our people to engage in farming and develop our agriculture to provide jobs and food,” he added.
At the ceremony, Mr. Lalong swore-in four special advisers, including a veteran journalist, Daniel Manjang, whom he named special adviser on media and publicity.
Others appointed were Patrick Dariem for Finance and Investment; Nanven Nimfel for Political Affairs and Luka Madaki for Agriculture and Rural Development.
The governor tasked the appointees to “prove true to your credentials and experience”.
Speaking for the appointees, Mr. Manjang assured the governor that they would carry out their duties professionally and effectively.
