The presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 presidential election General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) has hinted that he may contest the 2015 election. He was responding to questions from reporters in Abuja on Wednesday after the inauguration of party members to represent his party at the on-going merger talks with major opposition parties.

The retired Army General contested elections for the presidency thrice and lost to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Late Umaru Yar’adua and incumbent Goodluck Jonathan. He may have changed his mind as he earlier said the 2011 election was the last time he was contesting.

Buhari said that the outcome of merger talks between his CPC party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) will determine if he contest the election. He told reporters that he will give a definite answer after the conclusion of the merger which has reached an advanced stage.
