Governor Simon Lalong announces automatic employment for all Plateau indigent First Class graduates in all universities and government sponsorship for them to study up to Doctorate Degree level. This was announced by the Governor during the first convocation of the Plateau state University Bokkos on Saturday 4th February 2017. The Total No of Graduands are 335. 3 of the students graduated with First Class results, 1 in Management sciences, 2 in Social Sciences. 146 students graduated with 2nd Class Upper. 175 graduated with 2nd Class Lower and 11 graduated with 3rd Class. The
Governor inherited the university with two buildings but now has classrooms & modern hostels, offices, 3000-capacity Library, internal road network, etc through government funding and intervention of TETFUND.
Also 17 courses were accredited and the first combined convocation took place today twelve years after the institution was established the Vice Chancellor announced. The University Senate approved the establishment of Faculty of Medicine, while the Governor said he would ensure the establishment of Faculty of Law. Those in attendance were Governors of Bauchi, Kaduna, Kebbi and Sokoto and the host, Plateau. Also former Heads of State General Yakubu Gowon, former Plateau Governors, Air Commodore Dan Suleiman and Joshua Dariye. Former Deputy Governors Pauline Tallen and Jathro Akun., ex-FCT Minister Senator Jeremiah Useini, former foreign affairs minister Bagudu Hirse, former INEC Chairman & Pro-Chancellor of the university Professor Attahiru Jega, Committee of VC leader, Professor Michael Faborode former NUC boss, Prof Julius Okojie, VCs of various universities across Nigeria, among many others.
