Jos — The Plateau State Police Command has commended people of the state over the steps they took after a sack suspected to contain explosives was found.

ViewPointNigeria gathered that the discovery of the sack led to pandemonium at the Gada-biu market in Jos North Local Government Area on Wednesday afternoon.

A witness said the sac which contained some items believed to be used for interior decoration was left on the road.

ViewPointNigeria gathered that when people of the area found the sack, they called the police anti-bomb squad immediately.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Emmanuel Abuh, commanded the public for the action. He said though it was discovered that the bag did not contain explosive device, such vigilance and quick response by the public must be encouraged.

It would be recalled that the Operation Safe Heaven spokesman, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, had last Monday alerted that the Boko Haram sect was planning to attack some areas in the state capital and urged the general public to be security conscious by reporting any suspected item or strange movement.
