The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh has assured Nigerians of the commitment of the newly appointed service chiefs in ensuring that the Boko Haram insurgency is ended before the general elections in 2015.
Badeh who was decorated alongside the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff and Chief of Air Staff by President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential villa on Wednesday gave the assurance while responding on behalf of his colleagues. He said that the terror situation in the country was not new and that new strategies will be brought on the table to enable the security operatives’ fight and dislodge the insurgents in the North Eastern part of the country.

President Jonathan said the Federal Government would not sleep “until the war against terror is worn in the north east and the people of Borno can sleep”. He called on the Service Chiefs to put everything in place and ensure terrorism is conquered and echoed that the journey will not be smooth so they should expect tough times ahead.
Jonathan added that he expected the Service Chiefs to work together with other intelligent agencies to ensure that the ‘war on terror’ is won. He said that the new team will rescue the country from the ‘stronghold of terror’ while tasking them not to let Nigerians down.
The decoration ceremony which was sequel to the clearance given the Service Chiefs by the national assembly took place before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.
The newly decorated Service Chiefs are; Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, who is the new Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Jacob Minimah, the Chief of Army Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin the Chief of Naval Staff, and Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, the Chief of Air Staff.
