BEAUTIFUL GATE HANDICAPPED PEOPLE CENTER, JOS DONATES FOOD ITEMS TO SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND, GINDRI

In response to the distress call for assistance by the School for the Blind, GindiriFriends of the school for the blind, Gindri, the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Center in Jos has put a smile on the faces of the pupils of the school by donating food items.

Presenting the items to the management and pupils of the school, Director of the foundation, Chief Ayuba Burki stated that the gesture was borne out of concern that the school was about to close abruptly due to lack of food to feed the pupils. According to him, ‘If this occurs, it will affect the students negatively, therefore, we mobilized and have today come to present these items so that your academic activities can continue smoothly’.

He encouraged the pupils to take their studies serious stating that disability is not the kiss of the death but only a challenge waiting to be surmounted and that one of the best way to help someone living with disability is through quality education.

Chief Burki called on the proprietor of the school to intesfiy efforts towards revamping the school so that the ideals upon which the school was setup will not die. He also made appeal to the Plateau State Government and the public to come to the aid of the school.

Responding on behalf of the management, Mrs Rose Dankaka the Head Teacher of the School appreciated the effort of Chief Burki stating that only a child of God can do what he did within such shot notice and further appealed for support from spirited individual to assist the school which is the first special school in the whole of West Africa.

High point of the occasion was the rendition of songs by the pupils to Chief Burki and his Entourage as a show of gratitude and joy.

Items donated include; 12 bags of Maize, 6 bags of rice, 6 bags of beans, 3 bags of garri, 5 jerricans of palm oil, and one cow.
