The Governorship race in Plateau appears to be getting more and more complex as the day goes by.
Following the keenly contested primary elections where senator GNS Pwajok won convincingly -several happenings have occurred since, with some of aspirants (including Victor Lar, Johnclark Dabwan, Chris Bature, Haruna Dabin, John Alkali) calling for the cancellation of the polls for what they allege to be electoral fraud and flagrant voting malpractices.
Now the races appears to be getting even more complicated, as Bagudu Hirse appears set to declare and run for Governorship under the LP banner. Bagudu Hirse, a former Gubernatorial aspirant in 1999 and 2003, former Ambassador to Namibia and a current board member at the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Ltd, will pick up his party nomination and mobilise machineries to contest the elections shortly.

Following the keenly contested PDP primary elections where senator GNS Pwajok won convincingly – several happenings have occurred since, with some of aspirants (including Victor Lar, Johnclark Dabwan, Chris Bature, Haruna Dabin, John Alkali) calling for the cancellation of the polls for what they allege to be electoral fraud and flagrant voting malpractices.

Bagudu is being backed by most of the aspirants who lost the seat at the just concluded elections, as well as a raft of Plateau elders and opinion leaders from the Central and Southern zones.
The decision to rope Bagudu Hirse into the race, appears borne out of the fact that Senator GNS Pwajok (from the Plateau Northern zone) has emerged PDP flag bear -against the widely touted zoning arrangement which people say demands that the Plateau Southern zone produces the next Governor. And with Plateau people suspicious of APC because of allegations of religious extremism -they appear set to vote the Labour party.
This adds massive complexity to the already complication Plateau race, where Senator GNS Pwajok from the Northern Zone, slugs it out with Simon Lalong from the Southern Zone and now perhaps Amb. Bagudu Hirse of the central zone.
This would be a race very difficult to call, given the massive complexity -but with candidates from all three zones of the state (Northern, Central and Souther), the election may end up dividing the state along ethnic and regional lines.
