Senator Gyang Nyam Shom Pwajok, representing Plateau North constituency and the gubernatorial flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Plateau state, Yesterday, in Abuja was presented with a 2014 Community Police Ambassadorial Award by the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, and the office of the Inspector General of Police, IGP.

Senator Pwajok received the award for his support of community peace initiative and contributions on peace and reconciliation issues during the 2013-14 legislative session, including his work to address communal crises in his constituency.

Senator Gyang Nyam Shom Pwajok, representing Plateau North constituency and the gubernatorial flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Plateau state, Yesterday, in Abuja was presented with a 2014 Community Police Ambassadorial Award by the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, and the office of the Inspector General of Police, IGP.

Senator Pwajok received the award for his support of community peace initiative and contributions on peace and reconciliation issues during the 2013-14 legislative session, including his work to address communal crises in his constituency.

In their submission at the event, they stated that “PCRC and the IGP in collaboration with Civil Liberty Organizations is pleased to announce that Senator Pwajok has been named a 2014 Peace Ambassadorial Award recipient for his outstanding support of community peace initiative,” said Retired Major Chris Idoga, Plateau State Chairman PCRC. 

Chief James Stephen Pam, who received the award on behalf of Senator Pwajok at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre in Abuja, said “the award bestowed on Senator Pwajok by the PCRC and the IGP is a confirmation of the laudable programmes he has been organising in the senatorial zone and the state in general, which as resulted to relative peace in the state.”

Pam believe that if given the opportunity to govern the state, Pwajok will make greater impact in bringing peace and unity in the state.
The PCRC is composed of over 100 hundred thousand members in the 36 states of the federation, including the federal capital territory, it was established in 1984 by the then IGP, Etim Inyang to enhance Police community relations in crime management and welfare issues.
