Assailants injure farmer in Bangai village of Riyom LGA

The early hours of Monday 27th November 2017, witnessed yet another unfortunate incident – where Jonathan Luka, a 28 year old native of Bangai community (of Bachi district, Riyom LGA) was attacked by suspected assailants.

Jonathan Luka had along with his wife and mother gone to their farm in the Shonong area of the district, to harvest their crops –but un-beknownst to them, assailants were lying-in wait and launched a surprise attack on him –wounding him.

His wife and mother were however working on the adjacent farm and fortunately saw when he was being maimed and quickly raised the alarm –drawing the attention of other farmers.

An eyewitness who spoke to ViewPointNigeria confirmed that the swift intervention of the villagers led to the rescue of Jonathan and the accosting of one of the assailants –who has since been handed over to the police.

The national body of the Berom Youth Moulders Association when contacted, lent its voice to condemning the act, calling on its citizens to remain tolerant, peace loving and calm. The President of the association expressed concern at how security matters were being treated and called on all natives to be vigilant and report all suspicious activity to security agents. He urged natives to avoid walking in isolation but to imbibe a group attitude as a means of beating the ambushes.
