As the political atmosphere in Plateau continues to gathered momentum, Arc. John Alkali (a gubernatorial aspirant) has come out with guns blazing, challenging anyone who has proof of him not being a full-fledged PDP member to present such.
According to him, the National Secretariat of the Party recently appointed him as part of the PDP electoral supervision committee for the recent concluded Osun and Ekiti governorship polls.
He claimed that at no time did he defect to the opposition part even after he contested the PDP primaries and lost to Governor Jonah Jang in 2007. The Aspirant made this disclosure on Tuesday in Jos, while briefing Journalists, to address some of the comments made by Plateau PDP.
He said, “I want to debunk insinuations by the Secretary of our party Prince Pam Sale that I am an imposter who had left the party and fought the party in the last election on another platform. I really do not know where this shenanigan is coming from, or what they are trying to achieve by turning the truth on its head.
“Membership of a party, the PDP for that matter is not a secret cult, it is an open matter. In order to buttress not only my membership of the PDP but my unalloyed loyalty to it as an institution. After the 2007 governorship Primaries, I aligned with the Governor in the belief that he was going to serve the state credibly base on his antecedents.
“I surrendered all my Party structures and materials (motorcycles and vehicles) at the Local Government level as well as my campaign office situated along Yakubu Gowon Way, Jos for use by the Governor’s Campaign team.
The aspirant who lamented how he is being treated in the PDP maintained that, “I deserve commendation as a faithful and committed member of our great party and not to be so poorly treated.
“Let the truth be told that I play the politics here in Plateau with sincerity of purpose and without bitterness. My contributions and sacrifices in ensuring the success of the party are common knowledge to all.
“It is, therefore, an irony that anyone could peddle such falsehood on the state-own radio and the print media just to satisfy some primordial sentiments and narrow interest that would not do the state or our great party any good.
He insisted that the governorship slot be conceded to the Plateau South, claiming that Plateau Central has done eight years and Plateau North is about to complete eight years therefore that in the spirit of fairness and brotherhood, other zones should support the south for 2015.
