The killings that have become routine on the Plateau, have continued to escalate – with approximately 3 separate attacks recorded in the past 2 days in Jos South (Kwata settlement around HBC resorts, Vom road), Mangu (a small border village with Barkin Ladi) and Barkin Ladi (Roggop village)

In the latest such attacks last night, at approximately 10:30 pm, two young men in the Kwata settlement of Jos South were felled by bullets from yet to be identified gunmen.

In the clandestine attack, the gunmen walked up to a relaxation centre where people were sitting, eating and drinking and opened fire on the two gentlemen.

One of the unlucky fellows who could not escape the rain of bullets was a promising young man – Nanmwa Bongdul. A graduate from the Ahmadu Bello University. Who completed his Youth Service a few years ago and was engaged in the business of building construction.

As he sat with his neighbour, the gunmen unleashed a hail-storm of bullets which killed the two men instantly – before fleeing the scene and vanishing into thin air in the usual clandestine manner. This brings the number of attacks recorded from October 1st 2015 till date (October 9th 2015) to approximately 6. An average of one attack a day – and yet these gunmen are yet to be identified. In the month of September 2015 alone, over 16 separate attacks were recorded with approximately 68 people killed. Yet the gunmen’s identity remains a mystery. How long will FG continue to turn a blind eye to this injustice??

Nanmwa Bongdul graduated from Government Science School Kuru in 1997, he studied at the Ahmadu Bello University from 1999 – 2005. Until his death, he was engaged in building construction works and resided in the Kwata settlement near Zawan with his mother, brothers and other family members.

We shall compile a more comprehensive report as we receive it.
