Another attack in Bokkos LGA, 2 people killed

In the aftermath of the series of unrests that have be-devilled Jos in the past few days –another unfortunate attack was launched on a small community in Bokkos LGA on the night of 17th September 2017.

The attack which occurred in Gwande Village of Manguna district of the LGA, saw a man and his sister murdered under very gruesome circumstances. At the time of filing in this report, the man and his sister were confirmed dead, but the deceased man’s wife was in hospital with life threatening injuries from stab wounds.

Narrating the ordeal to our reporter, it was confirmed that the deceased man, his wife and sister were travelling on a motorcycle to visit a traditional medicine healer in Gwande village, because the wife was ill. On their way, they came under heavy gun-fire from near-by bushes. Herdsmen were then said to have emerged, and and stabbed everyone, including the wife.

This would be the 4th attack in Manguna district in the last 3 months. It would be recalled that earlier last month (17th August 2017), ViewPointNigeria reported of the killing of a traditional ruler (Chief Haruna Maren the Galadima of Tadai Village) in Manguna by suspected herdsmen. See ViewPointNigeria’s report: http://www.viewpointnigeria.com/gunmen-kill-village-chief-bokkos-lga/

Likewise in July 2016, the paramount chief of Bokkos (the Saf Ron) was gruesomely murdered under similar circumstances as he visited his farm. See Viewpointnigeria’s report at:

The two killings of the traditional rulers remain open cases, as none of the killers have yet to be brought to book. As such these additional killings are not surprising given the dis-interest from Government and its lack of will to protect its citizens.

These renewed attacks mark the recommencement of killings after a 2 year period of relative calm and peace.
