A rising political star, Amb (Dr) Chikas Kumle has officially declared her intention to run for the House of Representatives seat as member representing Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam Federal Constituency on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
While making this declaration at Lankan, her Federal Ward, Chikas noted that the PDP remains the only viable political party in Nigeria that is poised to deliver good governance to citizens and bring them out of the current hardship and suffering being faced across every nook and cranny of the country. She noted that the desire of Nigerians to change the “change” that has made life so difficult and unbearable in the past seven years shall be achieved through the instrumentality of the PDP at every level of governance begining from the presidency down to the least political office. She appreciated party members who have remained steadfast, endured long-suffering and kept faith with the party up to this moment even when power slipped away from the party in 2015. She sued for prayers, advice and guidance from members to succeed in her aspiration.
In his remarks, the chairman of the PDP in Pankshin local government, Hon. Bala Dalen expressed happiness with the aspiration describing it as a boost to the party because Chikas is a strong pillar in politics who has penetrated a large chunk of the political landscape building a strong network with people; a feat which saw her become the first woman to have emerged the chairman of Plateau Youth Council (PYC) at the local government level.
Also speaking, the women leader of the PDP in Kanke local government made a case for an opportunity to be given to women to hoist the flags of the party in 2023 and in that regard declared a massive support of women to Chikas’ aspiration.
In attendance at the official declaration were the local government EXCO of the party across the three local governments that make up the constituency– Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam. Also present were Federal Ward EXCOs that make up the constituency, critical stakeholders, party faithfuls, supporters and well wishers.
