The African Nations cup entered its third day with group C teams playing. Nigerian’s Super Eagles played the Stallions of Burkina Faso. The first goal of the game came in the 23rd minute when Brown Ideye who got a pass from John Mikel Obi flicked the ball towards Emmanuel Emenike who kicked the ball into the net to record a Super Eagles goal. Efe Ambrose of Super Eagles who had a yellow card booking was shown a red card after committing a foul in the 73rd minute. The Stallions took advantage of a defensive error from the Super Eagles defenders in the 94th minute to score an equalizer.

In an earlier game, the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia played a draw against the Chipolopolo of Zambia. The game ended one all despite the fact that the Ethiopians played most of the game with ten men as a result of a red card shown to their goalkeeper who fouled a Zambian striker. The Ethiopians missed a penalty in the 25th minutes. The Zambians scored a goal in the 48th minute while the Ethiopians equalised in the 64th minute.
