Nigeria’s Super Eagles will play the Elephants of Ivory Coast in one of the quarter final matches of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2013 in South Africa. Nigeria qualified for the quarter finals after defeating Ethiopia to become runner ups in group C. Two penalty goals scored by Super Eagles Victor Moses ensured the victory. Ivory Coast qualified after winning two games and drawing the last against Algeria. Super Eagles earlier games against Burkina Faso and Zambia all ended in draws which put pressure on the Super Eagles to win their last game.

The Super Eagles have played the Elephants five times at the African Nations Cup with two wins to the Ivory Coast, one for Nigeria and two draws. Nigeria’s skipper, Joseph Yobo and hero of the last game Victor Moses said the team will play its best to win the game although it is playing a tough team while Ivory Coast skipper Didier Drogba and player Emmanuel Eboue stated that they will claim victory against the Super Eagles that has always being a rival. Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi urged Nigerians to support the team all through the tournament.The winner of the game proceeds to the Semi Finals.
