Barely six weeks to the gubernatorial elections in the country,the Adamawa State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has confirmed the death of its candidate.
Confirming this development to journalists in Yola, the State’s Secretary of the party, Dr. John Luka said the party flag bearer took ill and was hospitalized but did not survive.
“Our party flag bearer Hakila Yerima was hospitalized for liver related illness before Christmas celebrations in Gombe and he died on 6th, of this month {January, 2015}.

“Our party flag bearer Hakila Yerima was hospitalized for liver related illness before Christmas celebrations in Gombe and he died on 6th, of this month {January, 2015}.
Luka further explained that, “Rev Yerima had on the 27th of December, 2014, written to the party that he is withdrawing his candidacy as the party’s flag bearer because of his failing health.
A copy of the letter of withdrawal of his candidacy dated 27th, December, 2014, made available to Viewpointnigeria reads, “I wish to tender my intention to withdraw my candidacy in the
forthcoming governorship election due to my failing health.
“While thanking the party members for the confidence repose on me, I wish to employ the party to look for a credible candidate that will fly the party’s flag in the general election”.
According to the State Secretary, the party has notified INEC of this development and the National Secretariat of the party is working round the clock to effect change of their deceased candidate.
It would be recalled that, Rev. Hakila Yerima had won the governorship primaries of the party conducted on the 6th, December, 2014.
