It would be recalled that an improvised explosive device, IED, suspected to be abandoned by Boko Haram insurgents has exploded killing one person and injuring four others people in lugda village of Maiha northern part of Adamawa State.

Viewpointnigeria gathered that the victims were on Sunday at about 6:30am warming themselves with wood fire due to the dry season cold. One of them saw a plastic bag and threw it into the fire, unknowingly to him that plastic bag contained explosives.

However, the Adamawa State Police Police Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, explained that the situation happened as a result of ignorance of the victims.

The Police Spokesman charged the citizenry to be more vigilant and to avoid touching or handling any strange object.

Our correspondent further gathered that some of the victims were referred to other tertiary medical institutions outside Adamawa State, where they could possibly be attended to by medical experts.

According to sources closed to the medical centre, other insurgency victims including soldiers were also suffering the effects of the strike.

Meanwhile, Adamu Dodo, who is the PRO of the hospital, said despite the strike, the management staff are helping the situation.
