Review by Christine Watson

“Lie to Me, Dan by Longrin Wetten is an interesting story full of many twists and turns. It was an exciting read and hard to put down because there was always something happening to keep me turning the pages. I enjoyed the suspenseful edge this book provided.

The book is based around Marylyn and Dan, but there are many other characters that add complexity to the story. Set in Africa, it felt very modern because the characters were young university students who had money and the modern comforts that western civilization enjoys. It was interesting to compare the similarities as well as the differences between the African culture and that of the United States.

While I enjoyed the book, I struggled to connect with the main characters. I would have preferred to know more about them so I could better understand and connect with them. At the beginning of the book, the main characters were both introduced as beautiful people with undesirable personalities and character traits, and I don’t think there was a smooth transition to make them as likeable as they should have been. The circumstances that brought them together were very extreme. I found myself still rooting for them, but something was missing for me.

Wetten provides a great deal of suspense to keep the reader captivated, and I was continually wanting to find out what would happen next. It had a good combination of suspense and mystery as well as a touch of romance. I would recommend Lie to Me, Dan to anyone looking for a quick and suspenseful read. I enjoyed the story”.
