The Hausa/Fulani community in Dorowan Babuje, Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, have petitioned the STF command, accusing the soldiers stationed in the area of ignoring earlier complaints of an impending attack on the community. Leaders from the community claimed that last Friday during their weekly prayers an attack was launched on them, leading to the lost of valuables and property.

The petition was written and addressed to the STF commander, signed by the community secretary, Alh. Muhammad Garba. He said the community on the August 26, 2013, lodged a complaint to the STF of an impending attack by some local youth in neighbouring areas, but that the STF did not respond. The petition averred that should the STF have responded accordingly, the attack would have been averted.

“We lodged complaint on August 26, 2013, that a group was planning to attack our neighbourhood but they refused to pay any attention. Following that, on Friday last week while we were observing our weekly prayer, a group of youth opened fire on us. And we had to abandon our prayers and scampered for safety,” excerpts from  the petition read.
