In a bid to promote sustainable peace and security in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, the Plateau State Peace Building Agency staged a consultation meeting with stakeholders from Mangun, Chakfem, and Ampang West Communities on August 6th, 2025.
The agency’s team, led by Mr. Yohana Elcanah Izam, Director of Administration, who represented the Director-General, Dr. Julie Sanda, emphasized the agency’s commitment to fostering peace and security in the LGA.

Mr. Izam highlighted the agency’s readiness to establish a signpost in Kerang, Mangu LGA, to prevent future incidents like the recent one involving travelers from Zaria, Kaduna State.
The meeting featured presentations by Salis Bashir on the “Review of Security Situation in the Area” and Nanribet Longvwam on “Community Contextual Update on Peace and Security.” These sessions provided a platform for participants to engage in open discussions, transcending religious differences.
HRH. Da. Job Ali Dapal, District Head of Mangun, commended the agency’s efforts and condemned the killing of travelers from Zaria. He shared instances where he protected Fulani cows and individuals during a crisis, demonstrating his commitment to peace.

The event’s climax featured testimonies from community members, including Nandom from Chakfem, Jonathan Martu from Mangun, and Janet James from Ampang and many others who shared their experiences and appreciated the agency’s willingness to listen to their challenges.
In a closing remarks, Mr. Nantim Joseph, Director of Programs, thanked His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his financial support. He emphasized the need to balance the narrative about Mangun, focusing on positivity rather than negativity.

The successful consultation meeting marked a significant step towards promoting peace and security in Mangu LGA, and the Plateau State Peace Building Agency remains committed to sustaining this effort.
