THE FUTILE BLACKMAIL AGAINST HON. AMB. DANIEL ASAMA AGO, MHR BASSA/JOS NORTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

The propaganda post on social media targeted at tarnishing the image of Hon. AMB. Daniel Asama Ago is not only petty and malicious, but it also reveals the desperation of opposition elements who have run out of credible strategies and have resorted to cheap blackmail.

Let us address the issues clearly and with facts:

  1. THE COMPULSORY VOTING BILL- CO-SPONSORED WITH THE RT. HON. SPEAKER
The Compulsory Voting Bill, which the authors of this falsehood have chosen to distort, was co-sponsored with the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the National Assembly. This alone highlights the national significance and strategic intent behind the bill. It is not just a bill by Rep. Asama alone- it is a collaborative and forward-thinking effort aimed at deepening civic participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.

Contrary to the falsehood peddled, compulsory voting is not alien to advanced democracies. Countries like Australia, Belgium, and Luxembourg have long embraced such mechanisms to enhance inclusive democratic culture. The mere fact that Hon. Asama brought this up reflects his visionary and globally aware legislative mind- not the “misfortune” ignorantly suggested by detractors.

  1. WITHDRAWAL OF THE BILL: A MARK OF RESPONSIVE REPRESENTATION
The withdrawal of the bill should not be mistaken as failure or shame; rather, it is a demonstration of Hon. Asama’s character as a listening, responsive, and democratic representative who places the opinions of his constituents and Nigerians at the core of his decisions. Democracy thrives on debate, dialogue, and public consensus. Therefore, withdrawing a bill in response to public sentiment is not weakness but an act of maturity, statesmanship, and democratic accountability.
  2. HON. ASAMA’S TRACK RECORD: 14 KEY BILLS FOR EDUCATION, HEALTH, SECURITY, WELFARE & DEVELOPMENT
While opponents attempt to focus on one bill for propaganda, Hon. AMB. Daniel Asama Ago has sponsored over 14 vital bills and motions- spanning critical sectors such as Quality Education, Healthcare and Welfare Policies, Human Rights and Constitutional Freedoms, Security Reforms, Tourism and Rural Development Initiatives.

These legislative efforts are targeted at uplifting the lives of citizens, especially those in Bassa and Jos North, who have long been underrepresented. His actions in the National Assembly have earned him the respect of colleagues and institutions across Nigeria.

  1. DESPERATE POLITICS AND OPPOSITION MISCHIEF
It is no news that Hon. Asama’s steady rise and productivity in the House has intimidated opposition forces, who are now resorting to divisive, baseless, and poorly constructed attacks. These detractors, rather than offer solutions or show evidence of service to the people, have made it their full-time job to manufacture false narratives in hopes of misguiding the public.

The people of Jos North and Bassa know better. They are witnesses to Hon. Asama’s tireless efforts on the floor of the House and in constituency outreach- from humanitarian support, youth empowerment programs, educational scholarships, to ongoing security engagements.

  1. A CALL TO FOCUS ON FACTS, NOT DISTRACTIONS
We urge constituents and well-meaning Nigerians to see beyond the propaganda. The real enemies of progress are those who sit in the shadows and throw stones, while men of vision and action like Rep. Asama are in the arena making a difference.

Hon. Daniel Asama Ago is not just a politician- he is a diplomat, a bridge-builder, and a patriotic servant of the Nigerian people. His legislative foresight, humility, and ability to admit and adapt based on public input are the very qualities we need more of in today’s governance.

Let the detractors keep wailing; Hon. Daniel Asama continues working.
