PANKSHIN, April 7, 2025 – In a press conference held yesterday, the Student Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin, publicly lauded the remarkable achievements of the Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Christiana Fwenji Zumyil, and called for an extension of her tenure.
The SUG praised Dr. Zumyil’s transformational leadership since assuming office, citing her swift implementation of development projects and commitment to academic excellence. Within her acting period, the students say that Dr. Zumyil prioritized staff welfare and capacity building, with over 70% of the university’s personnel now pursuing advanced studies. “Her administration also successfully completed several key infrastructural projects, including the construction and renovation of lecture halls and the upgrade of laboratory equipment—enhancements that have significantly improved the institution’s learning environment.” the students also say
These efforts coincide with the institution’s historic transition from a college to a university, awaiting the FG take-off grant and license to start officially as a university in Nigeria. The SUG emphasized that Dr. Zumyil’s visionary leadership has been pivotal in navigating this critical phase of institutional growth. However, the call for tenure elongation to enable her do, more in the transitional period. the students call on the Governing Councils responsible for appointing interim leadership to consider the Acting VC to continue before the selection of a substantive Vice Chancellor.
The SUG urged stakeholders to consider Dr. Zumyil’s proven track record, and the continuity needed to sustain the university’s momentum. Meanwhile, the Bursar of the institution also commends the prudent leadership style of the Acting V.C and says that “she manages funds like an accountant” and that her relationship with both staff and students is cordial. The Bursar also says that the university is on the verge of transition and the committee on Budget is done with its responsibilities.
