Prominent sons and daughters of Langtang South Local Government Area in Plateau State, including the immediate past gubernatorial candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) and the former Chief Medical Director (CMD), Gwalgwalada General Hospital, Abuja, Dr. Nandul Durfa, on Tuesday, denounced their membership from PDP as they pitched tent with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

At the grand rally held in Madubi, the headquarters of Langtang South Local Government to mark the official flag-off campaign for Langtang South constituency re-run election, the decampees said they have chosen to abandon PDP because of its imposition tendency and lack of internal democracy.

Governor Simon Lalong, who received the decampees stated that it was only a matter of time for every citizen of Plateau state to join the change movement.

He told the people of Langtang South to embrace the APC government, even as President Buhari has graciously appointed someone from the zone as Minister of Sports in the person of Solomon Dalong.

However, Engr. Jimmy Cheto, speaking on behalf of the decampees, stated that their decision to decamp to the APC was borne out of the skirmishes that marred the 2015 gubernatorial election.

According to him, the imposition of candidates was what people continue to witness under the past regime of former Governor Jonah David Jang, with lopsided appointment of the same ethnic nationality both at the state and national level.

Cheto, noted further that the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag-off campaign for the re-run of the House of Assembly election attracted sons and daughters who came to be part of the change mantra in Plateau state.

However, the Langtang South re-run election appears to be un-opposed as INEC has stopped the PDP from fielding a candidate based on the Appeal Court verdict that annulled the elections on the ground that the candidate of the PDP, who previously won the election was an ex-convict.
