Barely seven months in office, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, has been accused of marginalizing the Anaguta people of Jos North LGA in his appointments.

The Anaguta Youth Movement (AYM) through its leader, Mr. Emni Jonathan Nyam made their position known while briefing journalists in Jos yesterday.

Nyam said, “The present administration of Rt. Honourable Simon Lalong has deliberately and craftily failed and refused to follow the right and proper precedent laid by the previous administrations in recognizing and honoring the Anaguta people.

“This is because this administration did not appoint any Anaguta persons as a commissioner from Jos North LGA as done in the past. More amazing and worrisome is the fact that even in the appointment of membership of the Transition and Implementation Committee into the Jos North Local Government Council an Anaguta man was only given or appointed to a paltry position as Supervisory Councilor.

Speaking further, they queried that positions which have been over the years given to the Anaguta people have now been ceded to non-indigenes. Even the Beroms and the Afizeres that we considered our brothers were not considered in our place, rather non indigenes,” he lamented.

“Many of our people actually and vigorously participated in all the activities at all levels to ensuring that Rt. Honourable Simon Lalong becomes the Governor of Plateau State. Many of our people suffered
tremendously for the sake of this present administration.

“Many were molested, assaulted, injured, harassed, maltreated, defamed, rejected and abused during the political activities which led to the emergence of this administration. The Anaguta Nation and her allies overwhelmingly supported this administration and cast about 97% of the total votes in her areas as shown by available record,” he further lamented.

“We therefore call upon this government to have a rethink by taking the bold steps and act equitably, justly and fairly by restoring and giving to Anaguta people all the political appointments they have been enjoying from the past administrations”.
