Gov. Jonah Jang of Plateau has cautioned Nigerians against allowing religion to stand on the path to growth, stability and progress of the country.

“Religion should be a tool for love, stability, mutual respect and the promotion of human dignity,” Jang said in his Sallah message to Muslims in Jos on Thursday.

The governor advised Muslims to sustain the lessons of sacrifice, discipline and love learnt during the period of Ramadan fast, noting that such virtues were crucial to national development.

While congratulating the faithful for the successful completion of their fast, he urged them to continue to pray for the peace, love and stability of the nation.

Jang called on Muslims to use the celebration to reflect on those virtues that would make Nigeria a better country for its present and future generations.

He reiterated the determination of the state government to deliver democracy dividends to the people.
