On behalf of this committee I wish to extend our appreciation to you for coming for this Press Conference

RIFF:
Rock International Film Festival (RIFF) is a maiden edition of a 4-day annual human rights film festival scheduled to take place in Jos-Nigeria every November. This edition comes up from the 3rd – 6th November 2022, 9am–4pm daily at the FOX HOTELS JOS- The 6th is an Awards Night to close the festival, it starts from 4pm. Film participation will include both local and international screenings of short, feature & documentary Human Rights Films; and we would weave a discussion/conversation and Q&A session around the Human Rights issues these films address. RIFF particularly extended special opportunities to a few young filmmakers whose films address social and human rights issues.

MAJOR OBJECTIVE:
Our major objective is to use this platform to educate and sensitize the youths (students and young adults who make up more than half of the population of Jos) on basic human rights and abuses; to create awareness of the importance of a strong and lively civil society that advocates for civil and political rights; to inspire activism and campaign; and positive public debate amongst these youths which would birth action on human rights issues and abuses.

ORGANIZATION:
The Jos Film Initiative-JOFII, a Jos based non-profit youth development and empowerment initiative designed to grow the Jos film/cultural/arts and creative sector through training, festivals, competitions, grants and awards. JOFII also uses film/media production; videography, photography, modeling, fashion, music, other creative arts; cultural/entertainment projects as tools to showcase culture, tourism and hospitality; promote peace and good governance and advocate for girls, women and human rights.

Our Vision is to bring world standard training, events and opportunities in film/media and creative arts to the Plateau youth.

Our Mission is to harness the skills of Local and International industry educators and practitioners to deliver best practice continuous education through Point&Shoot training workshops.

Ladies and gentlemen we invite you all to join the conversation at the Rock International Film Festival and lets stand for Human Rights in Jos

Signed,
Henry Samson Mafulul
