Leading aspirant for the Office of the President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Alhaji (Comrade) Umar Faruk Lawal (aka Comrade Fakky) has expressed dissatisfaction over the continuous disruption of academic activities by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Comrade Fakky disclosed this in a statement issued by his campaign media team and made available to this medium. Comrade Fakky noted that the strike actions by ASUU has gradually become more of am annual festival, even though the striking lecturers do so with the aim of pressing home their demands for better welfare package for their members, the revitalization of Nigerian Universities and the fulfilment of previous agreements among other agitations.

He noted that despite the good intentions behind the strike actions, it has brought untold negative impact on students of Nigerian Tertiary Institutions, their academic calendar and graduates awaiting mobilization for the one year mandatory National Youth Service among others.

As such, Comrade Fakky used the opportunity to call on all well meaning Nigerians to prevail on the Federal Government to do the needful by addressing what he described as the ‘annual ASUU strike’ to be a thing of the past, while expressing confidence that if such is achieve the government shall celebrate for breaking a monumental record.
