As attacks on Plateau villages continue by suspected Fulani herdsmen, despite the imposition of curfew by the state government on the affected areas, the state Police command has requested for reinforcement to enable it live up to the challenges.

Addressing newsmen in Jos yesterday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nasiru Oki said the hostility in the council areas, which has seen daily attacks by marauders and cattle rustling by natives is an age long crisis that seems to have defied solutions, adding that his command was however determined to put an end to it.

He said that his command had deployed more men to the affected areas, and that he had requested for more personnel and operational vehicles from the Inspector General of Police to comb the areas affectively.

“It is an age long problem between fulani cattle rearers and farmers.  The crisis has been on for a very long time, and we are trying to see how we could end it. That is why we’ve requested for more men. I have told the Inspector General of Police my requirement and I have discussed the situation and the challenges I am facing with the IG. I know he will give me enough men that would take care of the situation.

With regard to vehicles, apart from the vehicles which we received some time ago, the IG has promised to add ten more vehicles, and we are expecting more.
