A University of Jos Don, Professor (Mrs) Naomi Nari James Rugu has said Education is the bedrock of human development and should be given great attention, by all and sundry. She made the submission while delivering a key note lecture at the flagoff of the National Association of Nigerian Students’ Restore Sanity on Campuses Campaign which held Tuesday 5th October 2021 at the main auditorium of the Kogi State Polytechnic in Lokoja.

Professor Naomi Nari James Rugu who was speaking on the menace of Exam-Malpractice and flagrant violation of school rules and regulations averred that if Students remain open-minded, keen on learning, do not loiter around, attend all lectures, attempt all assignments and submit for assessment and Work hard towards actualizing their dreams, there will be no need to even contemplate exam malpractice which deflates their self esteem, jeopardizes their admission and future aspirations.

Similarly, Key note lecturer Prof. Naomi James Rugu at the flagoff charged Nigerian Students to adhere to Rules and Regulations of their individual Institutions, stressing that Refusal to keep to the Rules and Regulations of any Institution by students suggests that such a student is not fit or ready to be a student of such an Institution and may sooner or later begin to have problems.

Professor Naomi called on Tertiary Institutions to assign a student Mentor/Adviser to every Student, soon as a student is admitted in to the University to give such a student a sense of direction and focus whilst closely shaping such a student’s Character in consonance with the institution’s Vision, Mission and Motto.

The Professor of Zoology finally thanked the National Association of Nigerian Students for the Initiative and inviting her to give a key note remarks at the said campaign flagoff. She urged the apex Student’s body to take the campaign restore sanity on campuses to all tertiary institutions across the country, as she solicited public spirited individuals to support NANS in the onerous responsibility.

The campaign flagoff had similar presentations on other social vices bedevilling Nigerian tertiary education campuses by other academicians, dignitaries and security chiefs including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
