News reaching the ViewPointNigeria news desks indicates that suspected Fulani gunmen in the early hours on Friday 12th June 2015, shot and killed four people in Rakung village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The spokesperson of the Police Command in Jos confirmed the incident via telephone to ViewPointNigeria, but could not ascertain the casualty level. However pictures share with ViewPointNigeria by people from community confirmed the development. Several of the people were shot in the head at close range using sophisticated weapons.
A witness, Dachollom Gyang, gave the names of the victims as Pam Babel, Solome Pam, Luka Gyang and Joy Toma.
According to Mr. Gyang, the gunmen were speaking Fulfude, the language spoken by the Fulani.
Meanwhile, residents in the area lamented that distress calls to security operatives attached to Rakung village went unanswered.
Last week, a community leader, Ezekiel Mandyan, disclosed that Gashish district in Barkinladi local government lost over 160 people in three years, from 17 communities through sporadic attacks without the arrest of any suspect.
