LETEP DABANG DONATES OVER SEVEN THOUSAND OIL PALM SEEDLINGS TO FARMERS IN PLATEAU STATE

Suspended Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State,Hon Letep Dabang has donated over seven thousand Oil Palm seedlings to members of the Oil Palm Growers Association Of Nigeria,OPGAN,Plateau State Chapter with a call on them to put in more effort at lifting up the more that sector of agriculture.

Presenting the oil palm seedlings to the association at his Jos residence Letep Dabang charged the association to take oil palm farming with the seriousness it deserves as well as encourage more people to go into farming it as it has been discovered to be a very huge revenue earner today.

Dabang who doubles as the Plateau State Vice President of the Oil Palm Growers Association said he started from one hundred palm trees but has now risen to over twenty thousand oil palm trees added that in terms of revenue returns,he will describe farming of oil palm as soon to be competing with crude oil.

He said currently at his farm nursery is about seventeen thousand seedlings and plans to give out and support farmers who may wish to go into it and improve its base as well as economic viability in Plateau State.

Receiving the oil palm seedlings,President of the Oil Palm Growers Association Of Nigeria,Plateau State Chapter,Rtd Hon.Justice Pius Damulak thanked Hon Letep Dabang for the donation saying this will further improve the activities and contributions of Oil Palm growers in the state.

He added that currently Nigeria has risen to among the top nations into oil palm farming after slipping down some years back,plateau state is determined to tale the lead and return the country to its rightful place.

He called on other spirited individuals who could assist to do so so that oil palm growers can have a ready market and also improve on their farms in areas where support is needed.

Also contributing,Secretary of the association,Manasseh Watyil said the association currently boasts of about three hundred and eighty seven members who are registered and still growing.

He added that recently Governor Simon Bako Lalong had also donated three milling machines to the association to help in boosting their activities.
