Governor Jonah David Jang of Plateau State has created 13 additional chiefdoms and districts in the state.

In a statement in Jos, the state capital, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Abubakar Mohammed Badu, said apart from the 13 newly created chiefdoms, seven others were upgraded and regarded, while a total of 168 districts were also created. Badu explained that the Governor performed this responsibility in compliance with the provisions of Section 3 of the Plateau State Chieftaincy Law No 5 which is specific on the signing of legal notices on creation of new districts and other matters.

The statement further said that the Governor also signed and gazette the order containing the appointment of the ‘Gbong Gwom Jos’, the paramount ruler of Jos.

It would be recalled that Jang at the inception of his administration eight years ago dissolved the chiefdoms and districts that his predecessor, Senator Joshua Dariye, created, promising to create new ones that he considered to be viable and well managed.
