The outgoing governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, has said that agriculture will soon become the biggest source of revenue generation in the state.
Jang stated this yesterday in Mangu local government area of the state, while commissioning the Permanent Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) constructed by his administration.
He said, “Our administration did a lot in tackling unemployment in the state and providing the dividends of democracy to the people of the state”.
“When we came into office eight years ago, we considered the rich agricultural potential of the state coupled with the agrarian nature of the people, and collaborated with Israeli experts to establish an over N12billion modern agricultural programme called Agricultural Services and Technical Centres in each of the three senatorial zones in the state”.
“These one-stop agricultural centres provide extension services, soil testing laboratory, mechanised farm implements, cold room services, high breed seeds, training and marketing outlet.
This investment has led to increased yield by the farmers and renewed interest in farming in the state”.
He called on the authorities of the NYSC to do everything possible to ensure that the camp is properly maintained and taken care off
