The Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency Plateau State, Rep. Simon Mwadkwon Ph.D has decried the incessant attacks and killings ongoing in his Constituency.

Dr. Simon Mwadkwon described the killings as inhuman, callous, irrational and condemnable as they are becoming increasingly unacceptable.

He recalled how on 10th January, 2021 two locals of Kuru and Rim were ambushed and killed at Nod area along Rahoss – Rim Road Riyom LGA.

Similarly, on 26th January, 2021 Mr. Elisha Amos was killed while Daniel Sati was seriously injured when they were ambushed between Gwol Hoss and Jol Road Riyom LGA.

As if that was not enough, yesterday our Constituency was visited by yet another heinous calamity as Atireku Village in Ganawuri District Riyom LGA was attacked while about 6 persons were reportedly killed from available reports from the attacked community.

These attacks are becoming too many and one will begin to wonder if that will remain our permanent fate to embrace and live with.

Assistant Director Media & Publicity, the Legislator called on government and security agencies be more proactive, live up to their cardinal constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property of the citizens.
“There is need to go after those killers as they are not ghosts, track them, arrest and prosecute them according to the Law of the Land to serve as deterrent to others” he said.

“Those killers must be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law if the heinous acts are to stop”

While praying for repose of the soul of the deceased and speedy recovery to the injured, the Lawmaker charged the people to be more vigilant and always at alert as well as report all suspicious movements in their areas.
