In the past few weeks since the commencement of the strike action by civil servants in Plateau State due to non-payment of their salaries, major streets in the Jos metropolis have become something of a horror.
Apart from the rubbish that litters major streets like Ahmadu Bello way, Murtala Mohammed way and Rwang Pam streets, Okada riders are back on our roads. The return of okada riders plus the dominance of our roads by keke NAPEP has made driving on the streets of Jos severely challenging.
Viewpointnigeria found out from commuters and shop owners around these areas that the strike being embarked on by civil servants may be the reason for such a high accumulation of waste on the streets and the return of okada. Its is hoped that the incoming administration will be able to get civil servants back to work to enable the JMDP and other enforcement agencies to carry out their work and return our streets to normalcy.
