HOUSE COMMITTEE ON REFORMATORY AND UPFRONT; FEDERAL HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES’ ASSESSMENT TOUR TO JOS CORRECTIONAL CENTRE

The House Committee on Reformatory and Upfront today, undertook an assessment tour to Jos Correctional Center to assess and ascertain the level of needs and interventions at the Center.

The Committee was represented by HON. KOMSOL ALPHONSUS LONGGAP, member representing MIKANG/SHENDAM/QUA’ANPAN Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The Committee was taken round the facility by Mr. Samuel Babatope Aguda, the Comptroller of Jos Correctional Center. Some of the places the committee visited and assessed were; THE CLINIC, THE WOMEN WING, THE TAILORING WING, CONDEMN CRIMINAL WING, THE KITCHEN AND THE CLASS ROOMS which looked unbefitting of human habitat and the dilapidated structure, including the recently constructed borehole as a shadow of itself.

Added to the structures that need urgent renovations, the Comptroller lamented that for some months now they have not received their monthly subventions, thereby; making the runnings of the centre very tasking and almost impossible with daily frustration.

He pleaded with the committee to look into their plight and come to their aid . Hon. Komsol assured the Comptroller, that he will convey back their complaints with a comprehensive report on the result of the assessment and submit to the committee for every urgent and necessary action to be taken.
