The Plateau Central Youths Advocacy for Democracy and Good Governance (PLACEYADAGG) has lashed out at the Senator, representing Plateau Central Senatorial District in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, Senator Hezekiah Dimka, over nonpayment of his appointed aids.
Recall that on 20th November, 2019, Nde Hezekiah Dimka announced the appointment of over 100 personal aids who were to assist him in the discharge of his legislative responsibilities and help him to deliver on his campaign promises to the good people of Plateau Central Senatorial District. This announcement was received with wild jubilation as it gave a glimmer of hope to the many unemployed youths within the district and state at large. Besides the joy of being employed, the appointees saw it as an opportunity to be mentored by a leader of his caliber.
According to an open letter written to the senator, the appointment letter promised as follows:
That the appointed aids are to serve in that capacity throughout the tenure of the Senator;
That responsibilities shall be assigned to them in due course; and
That the appointed aids shall be paid monthly.
Unfortunately, sources available to PLACEYADAGG revealed that none of these aids has been assigned any responsibility neither has any been paid since the announcement of their appointment. Consequently, the group, through its chairman, Builder Kwarsen Andokplang Gideon has described the long and undue silence of the distinguished Senator to be undemocratic, inhuman and absolutely heartbreaking. Builder Andokplang said, This is not the time to make promises and fail; those days are far gone and are better left in the archives of history. We are in the era of good governance where laudable achievements are rewarded while vain promise makers are shown the way out. Every politician should take note. The leader of the group also lamented that the COVID-19 has brought untold hardship to the people and failed promises can easily stir up anger among the masses.
To this end, the advocacy group is calling on the distinguished senator to, as a matter of urgency, do the needful by keeping to his words and responding to the voice of the people who elected him into the exalted office. This will help the people survive the hardship of the present times while saving the senator the humiliation that may arise from the anguish of his electorates.
God bless the able Senator, Nde Hezekiah Dimka!
God bless Plateau Central Senatorial District!
God bless Plateau State and Nigeria at large!
In Struggle,
Bldr K. Andokplang Gideon (Mniob)
Chairman, PLACEYADAGG
