It is now time Governor Lalong and the APC government face unimpeded view from the people across the state for its leadership failure as it’s evidently clear that the APC’s leadership is a key piece of impractical and inefficient governance in our democratic era.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, all the state government has been able to do is to ask people to stay at home and/or follow the laid down protocol as directed by NCDC without adequate provision of health equipment to fight this virus and also not being accountable to the people on how funds realized are being positively utilized.
The trivial approach by the state government in handling the situation on ground is not only insufficient, inconsequential but breeds mistrust in this leadership, the inefficient approach in managing this dreaded virus and resources is vastly different from the comprehensive approach taken by responsible leadership of other States in this same country example is the ongoing responsive mass testing approach by the cross river state COVID-19 RESPONSE TEAM
We believe that Governor Lalong often follows narrow and shallow approach to governance without applying the care principles to the quest for greater public effectiveness to avoid being accountable to people owing to the fact that accountability in governance leads to good decision making, so it is preposterous that the APC government is not able to figure things out due to its leadership deficiency.
While we respect physical distancing, health and safety guidelines put in place by NCDC we also wait to see responsive commitments by the government because there are a lot of important approaches that need to be taken seriously but is left undiscussed and unattended to, particularly none enforcement to laid down protocol in our all our markets, motor parks/commercial vehicles and relaxation centres.
Also, the state government needs to show it’s determination towards a comprehensive health framework including mass testing of citizens and also provision of adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) to health workers. It is necessary to be speedily proactive to avoid the fast spread of this virus as confirmed cases is obviously on the rise daily in the state.
Worrisome also is the test results delays and mass shortage of PPE . Its quite difficult to effectively respond to the fight against the virus, because as it is now in the state many people especially in corona virus hot spots do not know how and where to get tested while some have been waiting for more than two to three weeks now for government to screen them without any attempt.
This delay or lack of commitment can hamstring contact tracing efforts and can complicate our conditions , this implies that individuals are likely spreading the virus because they either don’t have a result or were unable to get tested, or haven’t yet been told that they have been exposed to an infected person.
Also we have observed with a lot of reservations the sudden end of palliative to our indigent plateau people the question now is ” Was the palliative meant for selected People”? Was it a political show that just ended with APC committee? Or Was it purely a committee of friends adventure ? Plateau people are waiting.
Signed…
