The accused; Simon Dalom alias Iliya Ezekiel, Luka Dapel, Mary Charles Wakkias, Mary Alkali, Esther Gonung and Nanchin Vivian Philibus were in court on Tuesday 19th before Justice Yargata Nimpar of the Plateau State High court. EFCC charged them on a six count charge which includes criminal conspiracy, forgery and theft.

The acting Head of Media and Publicity EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren said that first accused who is an account officer in the office of the Secretary to the State Government overseeing payment of salaries of political office holders created a fake office belonging to commissioner for planning. He also opened an account and diverted salaries and allowances.

EFCC stated that the suspects committed the act between 2009 and 2012 and allegedly stole N17, 444,509.90 from the coffers of Plateau State Government through the account opened by Simon Dalom in the name of Iliya Ezekiel posing as Commissioner for Planning.

The accused pleaded not guilty and Justice Nimpar adjourned the case to March 25th to hear on bail application while ordering that the suspects be remanded in prison. Earlier the defence counsel, Edwin Mulan moved for an application for bail which was swiftly opposed by the prosecution counsel.
