Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence and Senator Representing Plateau in the National Assembly Senator Istifanus Gyang has decried the neglect of communities displaced by violent attacks and banditry in his constituency.
Gyang made the called when he visited two vulnerable communities of Miango in the Irigwe Chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area and Gana Ropp in B/Ladi Local Government that were recently attacked.
“The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has embarked on massive reconstruction of 500 two-bedroom Housing Units to house communities displaced by attacks of bandits in the North West and North East while communities of Plateau North that have been in the eye of the storm of mass killings, displacement and homelessness for decades have not benefited from the government’s resettlement and reconstruction programme,” he said.
Senator Gyang said his constituents are left to fend for themselves without any help from government.
He, however, called on the Buhari administration to reach out to Plateau North with the Housing Project to resettle and house IDPs in the numerous displaced communities.
He reiterated his call on government and the security agencies for enforcement of law and order against crime and criminality particularly the dastardly killings.
The lawmaker donated roofing sheets to the two communities of Bassa and B/Ladi local governments to help them rebuild their destroyed habitats, saying it is his desire to see that they rebuild their ancestral homes
