The Plateau State Government is to re-organize the State Ministry of Finance for greater efficiency and prudent management.
Governor Jonah David Jang stated this while on a working visit to the Ministry on Wednesday, 6th February, 2013 at the Joseph Gomwalk Secretariat in Jos.
The Governor inspected the server room that provides network connectivity for the Ministry of Finance, Government House Rayfield, Government Lodge and Offices Jishe, which is powered by 30KVA and 100KVA generators, and back-up solar panel.
The Governor was taken round by the management of the Ministry led by the Commissioner of Finance Mr. Davou C. Mang. The Commissioner told the Governor and his entourage that the computerization is to network both the treasury, budget and relevant departments and offices outside the Ministry.
At the Salary Administration Unit, the head of the unit, Mr. Pamson Dagyat expressed optimism that the computerization of the salary, will check malpractices and unnecessary increase in levels or step of the civil servants.
Mr. Dagyat disclosed that 11,053 civil servants have been cleared for the January, 2013 salaries, about 840 are without biometric, more than 2000 have been captured in the biometric without files and 743 forms are yet to be returned, adding that they are sending the lists to MDAs through the Office of the Head of Service to give an explanation on the issues of files and the forms not returned among others.
Governor Jang expressed displeasure over the inability of some MDAs to submit their Biometric forms, warning that those responsible shall be sanctioned no matter how highly place they are. He directed the ministry to direct all MDAs to submit their salaries variation on or before the 10th of every month, and that failure to which will attract disciplinary measures.
The Governor also ordered the immediate employment of 10 graduates of accounting who are ICT compliant to be placed in the Treasury Department of the Ministry.

He warned that all staff of the Ministry and Government MDAs must be computer literate; stressing that any staff of the Finance Ministry who is not qualified to be in the Ministry will be moved to any other Ministry where such a person can be relevant.
Governor Jang ordered the Head of Service to provide the Office of the Auditor General of the State a new Office accommodation and the immediate computerization of the Audit Office along with the training of all the staff to be computer literate.
He also ordered the immediate commencement of the payment of 435 pensioners whose payments had not commenced since their retirement, totaling more than N29 million Naira monthly.
The Governor also inspected the five-storey building housing the Ministries of Education, Youth Development, Sports Development, Women Affairs, Science and Technology, Information and Communication and the Legal Aid Council. He inspected the facilities and the newly acquired furniture.
In an interview with newsmen after the inspection, Governor Jang stated that the entire Secretariat will be renovated before 2015.
